We are recruiting for a full time, Aberdeen based Radioactive Substances Specialist on a permanent basis

This role offers the opportunity to regulate radioactive substances activities under Environmental Authorisations Scotland Regulations 2018. Responsibilities include the assessment and determination of applications.
Undertake inspections to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements
When necessary, progressing proportionate enforcement action in line with SEPA's enforcement policies to secure compliance and protect the environment
The ability to communicate and engage confidently with a wide range of operators, stakeholders, experts and other regulators on matters relating to radioactive substances will be essential
The role will work in a specialist regulatory team and be responsible for the regulation of varied range of sites located primarily in the NE of Scotland. There will be a requirement to go offshore and undertake inspections at offshore facilities in the North Sea

This is a highly important role within our Regulation, Business & Environment portfolio, which means you’ll need:

Relevant scientific degree or relevant equivalent experience
Good experience of working with radioactive substances or in radiation protection
Knowledge of legislative framework covering radioactive substances both nationally and internationally
Knowledge of the oil and gas sector and the ability to travel to offshore facilities (training can be provided)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
