Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Chef and Manager to lead our culinary team in Shawlands. This pivotal role combines hands-on food preparation with team management responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals and a smooth kitchen operation. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for hospitality. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to oversee daily kitchen activities, uphold food safety standards, and inspire a team to achieve excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Plan menus in collaboration with the culinary team, ensuring variety and quality.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with regulations.
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to optimise efficiency.
Ensure timely service of meals whilst maintaining high standards of quality.
Train staff on food production techniques, safety procedures, and customer service practices.
Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organisation to uphold health standards.
Lead by example in delivering exceptional hospitality experiences to guests.

Experience

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting.
Extensive background in food production, cooking, and culinary arts.
Demonstrable team management skills with leadership qualities that motivate staff.
Solid experience in food safety protocols and hygiene standards.
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and serving practices.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
