Chef de Partie – The Hoddington Arms

The Hoddington Arms is a family-run, award-winning village pub in Upton Grey, Hampshire, known for exceptional food, warm hospitality and a strong focus on quality ingredients and seasonal cooking.

We are proud to be recommended in The Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide, and we have recently been awarded 2 AA Rosettes in recognition of our food standards.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team and support our Head Chef in delivering consistently excellent dishes across our menus. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal produce and wants to be part of a close-knit team in a busy, quality-driven kitchen.

For the right person, this role offers a genuine opportunity to develop and progress towards a Sous Chef position, working closely with our Head Chef to grow your skills, confidence and leadership experience.

The Role

As Chef de Partie, you will take responsibility for your own section during service, ensuring every dish leaving the kitchen meets The Hoddington Arms’ high standards. You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to deliver smooth, professional service and exceptional food for our guests.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of your designated section, preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard
Support the Head Chef in delivering our seasonal menus, daily specials and service standards
Follow recipes, portion guides and presentation standards to ensure consistency across every plate
Work efficiently during busy services while maintaining attention to detail and quality
Prepare ingredients to a high standard, including butchery, fish preparation, sauces and garnishes where required
Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation throughout your section
Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service
Assist with stock control, ordering requirements and minimising waste
Support and encourage junior members of the kitchen team, sharing knowledge and best practice
Take an active role in developing your skills and supporting the wider kitchen operation, with the opportunity to progress into a senior role

Requirements

Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or strong experience in a similar kitchen role
Experience working in a quality restaurant, gastropub or similar food-led environment
Ability to work confidently across your section and support the Head Chef during service
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
Excellent attention to detail and pride in presentation
Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a supportive team
Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and delivering great food
A desire to develop your career and take on additional responsibility over time
