Overview
Little Learners is a small, caring nursery with a strong belief in giving children the best possible nursery experiences. we prioritise building good relationship and play based learning. We have children from 18 months - 4 years. As we grow, we now need someone who feels confident to lead an area of the nursery and further develop the excellent foundations.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Nursery Practitioner to join our team. They will be responsible for leading either the toddler section or the over 3’s area of our nursery, with close support from the manager.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong background in early childhood education. This role would be ideal for someone who has established themselves and their practise and is ready to take on some extra responsibilities.

As a Lead Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their development and learning through engaging activities.

This role is term time only (38 weeks per year plus 5 INSET days) and is for 25-30 hours per week. Hours are between 8am and 4pm daily, with a minimum of 2 hours / week paid administration time for planning / preparation.

Responsibilities

Lead an area of the nursery room (either toddlers or over 3’s, depending on experience and preference)
Provide high-quality care and education to children in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
In conjunction with the manager, plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Manage daily routines, ensuring that children's needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships and support children's learning journeys.
Observe and assess children's progress, sharing these with the team and with parents.
Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, safe, and organised nursery space, including helping to set up and pack away each day.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to continually improve practice.
Act as deputy DSL
Deputies in the manager’s absence

Requirements

Proven experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
A Level 3 qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is highly desirable. If a strong candidate does not yet have this, they must be willing to do their Level 3 qualification once they start (funded by the nursery).
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage groups of children effectively while promoting positive interactions.
A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
An strong understanding of the EYFS framework and our roles and responsibilities within this
An ability to lead staff through respect, teamwork and modelling good quality practise
