Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team as a Butcher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food production and possess a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role involves preparing high-quality cuts in a busy environment, ensuring consistency and excellence.

We have a 3 bedroom cottage with a large garden available for a non smoker if required.

Duties

Prepare and cut a variety of carcasses - beef, pork, lamb/ mutton and poultry according to established standards
Assist with food presentation to ensure visual appeal
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the butchery area, including workstations and equipment
Follow strict food safety and hygiene protocols at all times
Ensure all food preparation meets health and safety regulations
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods
Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies when necessary
Work a farmers market once every two months on a Saturday morning
Collection from the abattoir
Deliveries to customers on a Friday.

Skills

Proven experience in butchery, ideally within similar environment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience in food preparation, including butchery and basic cooking techniques
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Previous butchery experience is highly desirable, with an emphasis on attention to detail and consistency in food quality

Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
