Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield
Pay: £30,000 – £35,000

About the Role
Gray Healthcare is recruiting a Payroll Officer to support our Finance Team at our head office in Alderley Park.
This is a key role focused on delivering an accurate, compliant and efficient payroll service. You will ensure all payroll transactions are processed correctly, on time, and with a clear audit trail, supporting strong financial control and organisational oversight.
This role goes beyond payroll processing. You will support governance, maintain financial integrity, and contribute to a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your work will support staff confidence, audit readiness, and informed decision-making.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing end-to-end payroll processes accurately and on time
- Processing starters, leavers, and payroll changes
- Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPP
- Managing pensions, auto-enrolment and contributions
- Administering tax codes, P45s, P11Ds and RTI submissions
- Completing payroll reconciliations and control accounts
- Preparing payroll journals and month-end accruals
- Reconciling hours worked against contracted arrangements
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Maintaining accurate records with a clear audit trail
- Supporting audits through robust payroll documentation
- Responding to staff queries on pay, deductions and pensions
- Liaising with HMRC and pension providers
- Producing payroll reports to support decision-making
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience in a payroll role
- Experience using NetSuite Payroll or similar systems
- Strong knowledge of tax, National Insurance and statutory payments
- Ability to calculate payroll manually (gross to net)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office
Desirable
- Payroll qualification
- Experience in health and social care
- Wider finance or accounts experience

Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
