Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience with specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts. A commitment to quality workmanship and customer service is essential.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and associated equipment.
Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
Perform repairs involving fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly of parts.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
Maintain accurate records of work carried out and parts used.
Assist with the repair of auxiliary equipment including excavators and forklifts.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
Undertake heavy lifting as required for the handling of vehicle parts or equipment.

Experience

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role within a commercial vehicle environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
Electrical experience including reading schematics and troubleshooting wiring issues.
Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and working with schematics for complex repairs.
Experience with equipment repair such as excavators and forklifts is desirable.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and assembly techniques.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during maintenance tasks.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and diagnostics. This position is ideal for a motivated individual eager to maintain high standards of vehicle safety and performance while delivering exceptional customer service within a professional environment.

Pay: £43,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Armagh, County Armagh: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
