Job Title: Fitter

Job Reference: 26/07/FTR
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Manager
Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fitter to join our heavy manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring plant machinery operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position offers a strong opportunity for skilled candidates to further develop their expertise within a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, install, align, and commission mechanical components and heavy machinery in accordance with technical drawings and specifications
Carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance on plant equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults, perform breakdown repairs, and minimise downtime
Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals
Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve mechanical issues
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with site safety procedures, risk assessments, and permit systems
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area at all times
Complete maintenance records, job reports, and fault documentation accurately and promptly

Skills and Experience

Experience as a Fitter within a heavy manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors
High level of competency using hand tools and power tools
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet production deadlines
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when required
