About the Role
We are looking for a competent and experienced Pipefitter/Welder to join our team, working on a range of industrial and engineering projects across the UK.
This is a varied, hands-on role offering a mix of pipefitting and welding alongside wider engineering work. You will be part of our broader team, supporting machinery installation and movement, ductwork, mechanical fitting, and assisting engineers with general site duties as required.
The role involves frequent travel, overnight stays and weekend work. Applicants must be comfortable working away from home for extended periods when projects require it. From time to time, you may also be required to work from our workshop in Huddersfield to complete off-site fabrication work.
You do not need to hold current coded welding qualifications. For the right candidate, we will provide the training and certification required for the role. However, you must already be a capable and experienced pipe welder who can consistently produce work to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pipefitting and welding on industrial pipework, primarily carbon steel systems.
- Prepare and fit pipework, including measuring, cutting, grinding, bevelling, aligning and tacking.
- Produce safe, strong and high-quality welds appropriate to the application.
- Read and work from engineering drawings, layouts and site instructions.
- Complete off-site fabrication work at our Huddersfield workshop when required.
- Assist with the movement, positioning and installation of industrial machinery.
- Support ductwork, mechanical installation and general fitting activities.
- Work alongside engineers, fitters and other trades to complete projects safely and on schedule.
- Inspect and maintain welding and fitting equipment.
- Follow all company and site health and safety requirements.
- Travel to customer sites throughout the UK and stay away from home as required.
- Work weekends and additional hours when needed to meet project schedules.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in pipe welding and pipefitting within an industrial or engineering environment.
- Competence in welding carbon steel pipework.
- Good knowledge of pipe preparation, fit-up, alignment and mechanical installation.
- Ability to work safely and produce consistently high-quality work.
- A practical, flexible approach and willingness to assist with duties outside welding.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness and availability to travel, stay away from home and work weekends regularly.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including at height when properly trained and authorised.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with MMA/Stick welding.
- TIG welding experience.
- Experience welding stainless steel pipework.
- Experience working on steam, boiler or process pipework.
- Previous experience working in industrial facilities, factories, boiler houses or similar environments.
- Experience with machinery moving, ductwork or mechanical installation.
- Relevant safety qualifications, working at height, hot works, manual handling, etc.
Welding Qualifications
Current coded welding certification is not essential. We are prepared to provide the right candidate with the relevant training and certification.
Existing welding qualifications are welcome, but practical experience, competence, reliability and the right attitude are more important.
Working Hours
- When working away from home, the standard working hours are 7:00am to 7:00pm.
- When working locally or at our Huddersfield workshop, the standard working hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm.
- Working hours may vary depending on project requirements.
- Regular weekend work will be required.
