Full job description

We’re looking for an ambitious and talented Head Chef to lead the kitchen at our

beautiful country pub.

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to run a kitchen. We’re looking for

a chef who wants to create something special — someone passionate about refined,

beautifully presented food, excellent produce and creating menus that give people a

reason to come back.

Set in a beautiful country pub, we want to build a kitchen that combines the warmth

and character of a great pub with the quality, creativity and attention to detail of a

destination restaurant.

You’ll have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the food, working with the

team to develop seasonal menus, daily specials and dishes that reflect the best of the

ingredients available.

The Role

As Head Chef, you’ll take ownership of the kitchen and play a key role in shaping the

food offering. You’ll lead from the front, setting high standards while creating a

positive, professional and enjoyable working environment for the whole team.

You’ll be responsible for:

Leading and motivating the kitchen team, creating a strong and positive team dynamic
Developing seasonal menus and creative daily specials
Preparing, cooking and presenting consistently high-quality dishes
Maintaining excellent standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
Managing kitchen operations, ordering, stock control and food costs
Monitoring portion control, waste and kitchen efficiency
Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, health & safety and cleanliness
Managing kitchen paperwork and ensuring all procedures are followed
Working closely with the wider team to deliver an exceptional experience for our guests
Developing and mentoring the kitchen team, helping people grow and progress

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be an experienced chef with genuine ambition and a passion for food. You’ll be
organised, reliable and calm under pressure, with the confidence to lead a kitchen and
the creativity to make your mark.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has proven experience in a senior chef role, ideally as a Sous Chef or Head Chef
Has a genuine passion for refined, seasonal food and excellent ingredients
Takes pride in presentation, consistency and attention to detail
Understands kitchen management, food costs, ordering and stock control
Has excellent knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety
Keeps up to date with culinary trends and new ideas
Is organised, commercially aware and able to manage a busy service
Enjoys developing and mentoring a team
Is ambitious, dynamic and hungry to succeed
Wants to have a genuine influence on the direction of the food offering
