A varied first pharmacist role combining Responsible Pharmacist duties, prescribing and clinical governance
Assured Pharmacy is looking for a newly qualified or early-career Pharmacist Independent Prescriber to join our in-house pharmacy team in Eccles, Greater Manchester.
The main part of the role will be working as a Responsible Pharmacist and supporting the safe and effective day-to-day running of our online pharmacy.
Alongside this, you will gain valuable experience as an Independent Prescriber, conducting patient video consultations, initiating and reviewing treatments, and supporting our established team of remote pharmacist prescribers when demand requires.
You will also work closely with our Superintendent Pharmacist, supporting both clinical governance and the overall quality of our pharmacy services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified pharmacist, looking for more than just being a responsible pharmacist at a community pharmacy. We want pharmacists who are also enthusiastic to develope experience across, prescribing, online video consultations and to be part of a team of supportive senior prescribers, dispensers and customer services.

Assured Pharmacy is a UK-regulated online pharmacy that has provided treatment to more than 250,000 patients.
We provide clinically led digital care across weight management, hair loss and a range of men’s health conditions.
Our services include weight-loss medicines such as GLP-1 treatments, alongside treatments for conditions including erectile dysfunction and hair loss.
You will work onsite as part of a small pharmacist team, alongside our Superintendent Pharmacist, dispensary colleagues and pharmacy operations team.
You will also work with our wider clinical team of approximately 10 full-time and part-time remote pharmacist prescribers.
The roleResponsible Pharmacist and pharmacy operations
The main focus of the role will be working as a Responsible Pharmacist and helping to oversee the safe and effective operation of the pharmacy.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the Responsible Pharmacist
- Providing professional and clinical oversight of the pharmacy
- Completing clinical checks
- Supporting the safe and accurate supply of medicines
- Resolving clinical, prescription and patient-related queries
- Supporting dispensary and operational colleagues
- Applying SOPs consistently
- Maintaining high professional and regulatory standards
- Identifying risks and escalating concerns appropriately
- Helping the pharmacy operate safely, efficiently and effectively
- Supporting continuous improvement across the pharmacy service
You will work as part of a small in-house pharmacist team and will be supported as you develop confidence and experience in the Responsible Pharmacist role.
Independent prescribing and video consultations
Alongside your Responsible Pharmacist duties, you will work as part of our prescribing service when required.
You will gain practical prescribing experience across a wide range of treatments, including weight-loss medicines such as GLP-1 treatments, hair-loss treatments and treatments for men’s health conditions.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Reviewing patient medical information and treatment requests
- Conducting video consultations to assess patients and initiate treatment
- Conducting scheduled patient reviews
- Assessing treatment suitability and making safe prescribing decisions
- Reviewing medical history, current medication, contraindications and clinical risk
- Discussing treatment options, benefits, risks and expectations with patients
- Managing questions relating to side effects, dosing, titration and treatment progress
- Providing clear safety-netting advice
- Documenting consultations and prescribing decisions accurately
- Escalating complex or higher-risk cases where appropriate
- Supporting our remote prescribing team during periods of increased demand
The balance between Responsible Pharmacist duties and prescribing work will vary according to the needs of the pharmacy.
The Responsible Pharmacist element will remain the core of the position, with prescribing providing additional variety, clinical exposure and development.
Clinical governance and pharmacy service quality
You will work closely with our Superintendent Pharmacist and gain valuable experience in how a regulated online pharmacy manages clinical standards and service quality.
This may include supporting:
- Clinical governance and patient safety
- The review and improvement of SOPs
- Clinical audits
- Quality monitoring
- Incident reviews and learning
- Risk management
- Prescribing standards
- Patient communication standards
- Service development
- Consistency across our wider prescribing team
- Improvements to the overall quality of our pharmacy services
This will give you the opportunity to understand how a large online pharmacy operates from a clinical, professional and operational perspective.
Who this role is for
This position is designed primarily for a newly qualified pharmacist who will also be qualified as an Independent Prescriber.
It may also suit an early-career pharmacist who has recently completed an Independent Prescriber qualification and is looking for a more varied and clinically focused position.
Previous online pharmacy experience is not required.

Video consultations are an important part of the prescribing element of this position. You will be representing Assured Pharmacy directly to patients, so a professional manner, strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly are essential.
Essential requirements
You must:
- Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or be due to join the register in 2026
- Be qualified and annotated as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber by your employment start date
- Have the right to work in the United Kingdom
- Be able to work onsite in Eccles, Greater Manchester
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgement
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients
- Be confident conducting professional video consultations
- Have strong attention to detail
- Be comfortable working in a regulated pharmacy environment

You will not be expected to arrive with experience of online pharmacy.
We will support you in learning our systems, services and processes and in developing safely and confidently across the different parts of the role.
