Full job description

Set within the stunning Cheshire/Shropshire countryside, Combermere Abbey Estate is a privately owned historic estate with a rich heritage dating back to the 1100s. The Abbey is both a cherished family home and a unique venue for tours, events and private functions.

We are looking for a professional, reliable and detail-focused Housekeeper to help care for the main Abbey residence and support the presentation and upkeep of this exceptional historic property.

This is a rare opportunity to work within one of the North West’s most beautiful heritage estates, helping maintain the high standards and welcoming atmosphere that Combermere Abbey is known for.

The Role

Working closely with the House Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day housekeeping of both the private family areas and selected public rooms within the Abbey.

The role includes:

· Cleaning and maintaining rooms to an exceptionally high standard

· Laundry and linen management

· Preparing guest bedrooms for events and house parties

· Caring for antiques, period furniture and delicate fabrics

· Supporting the setup and presentation of rooms for tours and events

· Reporting minor maintenance concerns

· Occasionally assisting during evening or weekend events

· Weekly cleaning of the Estate office

The role is varied, flexible and planned in advance around the Abbey calendar.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

· Has previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (private household, hotel or heritage setting desirable)

· Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work

· Is trustworthy, discreet and professional

· Works well independently and as part of a team

· Is organised, proactive and able to prioritise tasks

· Is comfortable around dogs (we have two Labradors)

· Has their own transport due to our rural location

· Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work

· Holds or is willing to obtain a DBS check

Hours & Benefits

· Part-time, permanent position

· 14–18 hours per week over 2–3 days

· Occasional weekend or evening flexibility required

· Salary from £13 per hour (depending on experience)

Location

Whitchurch/Nantwich area – applicants must be able to reliably commute due to the rural location of the estate.
