What You’ll Be Doing
The QC Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining an effective Quality Control function to assure the quality and safety of the food ingredients the company produces. This requires careful unhurried work promptly carried out.
· Ensuring all incoming and outgoing products are tested using Test Methods stated in the Specification.
· Keeping library of batch samples and goods in samples where appropriate.
· Ensuring accurate test results are noted in a batch Certificate of Analysis.
· Maintain clean as You Go in the laboratory to minimise risk of cross contamination.
· Take samples of products and despatch to the laboratory for tests such as Illegal Dyes, Heavy Metals, Allergens and Mycotoxins.
· Sending production samples for micro testing where detailed on the specification.
· Monthly screening of environmental samples
· Obtaining certificates prior to delivery or 24 hours thereafter.
· Assuring that the results comply to the agreed specification
· Work on provision of a prompt and polite service to customers in dealing with their incoming technical inquiries.
· To ensure production are given test results in a timely manner and inform them of any test fails.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who is curious, detail-oriented and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. Whether you're a recent science graduate looking to start your career in Quality Control or someone with laboratory experience looking to develop your skills in the food manufacturing industry, we'd love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will have:
· A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or another relevant scientific discipline is desirable, but not essential.
· A genuine interest in quality, food safety and laboratory testing.
· Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
· Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to follow procedures accurately.
· Strong communication skills and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
· A willingness to learn, take ownership of tasks and continuously develop new skills.
· Basic IT skills and the ability to accurately record and report results.
· Previous laboratory or Quality Control experience is beneficial but not required, as full training will be provided for the right candidate
