Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dynamic Assistant Manager to join our pub team. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop managerial expertise while supporting daily operations, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth running of both bar and floor. You will also be confident stepping up to lead the business in the General Manager’s absence.

Duties

Support the General Manager in overseeing daily pub operations, ensuring smooth service across bar and dining areas
Serve drinks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and responsible service
Supervise and motivate team members, fostering a positive working environment and driving high performance
Manage and coordinate food orders, ensuring accuracy and timely service between kitchen and front of house
Oversee all aspects of the pub during shifts, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and compliance
Step up to lead the team and run the venue in the absence of the General Manager
Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally, maintaining excellent service standards
Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and ensure adequate coverage during busy periods
Maintain stock levels, assist with ordering, and ensure the bar and floor are well presented at all times
Support staff training and development, helping new team members integrate effectively
Assist with administrative duties such as reporting, stock control, and maintaining accurate records

Skills

Proven management or supervisory experience within hospitality, pubs, bars, or similar environments
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team under pressure
Experience serving drinks and managing bar operations confidently
Knowledge of food service operations and coordinating orders between kitchen and front of house
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable manner
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail in both service and administrative duties
Flexible, reliable, and confident in taking initiative when required

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £34,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
