Room Leader / Supervisor (Term Time Only)

We are looking for an experienced, motivated childcare professional to join our team in a dual-role position.

Role Overview

2 days per week as a Room Leader at Gibbonsdown Children's Centre.
3 days per week as a Supervisor at Dechrau Dysgu.

2 days as room leader 8.30-3.15 and 3 days as Supervisor 8.30-3.00 (30min unpaid lunch break)

As a Room Leader, you will lead the room team, ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the room, support staff, and take responsibility for a group of key children.

As a Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operation of the setting under the guidance of the Manager, who is based at Gibbonsdown Children's Centre. While working independently on site, you will be responsible for registers, occupancy and staffing numbers, risk assessments, liaising with Flying Start, and supporting staff to deliver high-quality childcare and learning experiences.

The successful candidate will:

Have experience working in an early years setting.
Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills.
Valid experience of working as a senior member of staff in a childcare setting.
Have a sincere love and passion for working with and educating children.
Be confident working independently and making day-to-day decisions.
Have a good understanding of safeguarding and childcare regulations.
Be passionate about providing high-quality care and education for children.
Understanding of how to motivate staff.
Sound knowledge of Early years and five developmental pathways under the curriculum for Wales.
Plan, organise and implement a programme of activities to meet the needs of this age group and each individual child’s needs and interests following the Curiosity Approach.
Have a strong belief in building-relationships with Parent Partnerships to provide sound and cohesive learning to our children.
Hold at least a relevant Level 3 Childcare qualification (or equivalent) for early years.

Desirable Qualifications, knowledge and Training

(can be trained on acceptance of the role)

Understanding of Flying Start
Understanding of the Curiosity Approach
Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
Current Safeguarding Certificate.
Current DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or a transferable DBS.
Food Hygiene Certificate.

Dechrau Dysgu is a Welsh-medium setting. The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage but is not essential. However, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake Welsh language training and work towards developing their Welsh language skills.
