Full job description

We are a proud, independent tapas restaurant in the heart of Mapplewell. Known for our vibrant atmosphere, authentic small plates, and warm hospitality, we’re a local favourite where guests come to relax and share great food. As a small team, we operate like a family—we work hard, support each other, and love what we do.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our front-of-house team and keep the good vibes flowing.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Restaurant Owner to oversee daily operations. You won’t just be managing from an office; you’ll be on the floor, engaging with customers, pouring drinks, and leading the team by example during busy services.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and support our front-of-house team during shifts.
Guest Experience: Ensure every customer receives a warm welcome and exceptional service.
Daily Operations: Assist with opening/closing duties, cashing up, and maintaining high health and safety standards.
Stock & Specs: Help manage stock rotation, cellar management, and ordering where required.
Problem Solving: Handle guest feedback and unexpected shift challenges with a calm, positive attitude.

About You

We are looking for someone with a big personality who genuine loves the hospitality industry.

What we're looking for:

Experience: At least 1–2 years of supervisory or team-leader experience in a busy, fast-paced restaurant or bar environment.
Passion: A love for great food, drinks, and the independent hospitality scene (tapas/wine knowledge is a bonus, but a willingness to learn is essential!).
Vibe: Energy, resilience, and a hands-on work ethic. You’re someone who lifts the team’s spirits during a busy weekend rush.
Flexibility: Available to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (the usual hospitality hours).
