Full job description

Stopsley Village Practice is seeking a friendly, caring and compassionate practice nurse to join a busy, forward thinking & supportive general practice team. The role can be Permanent / Temporary - Full time / part time hours, working days and times are negotiable

This position provides excellent opportunities for professional growth, close collaboration within a dedicated team, and a welcoming environment committed to delivering outstanding patient care.

The successful candidate will be experienced in treating a diverse range of patients in a primary care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services, including wound management, venepuncture, ECG recording, and cervical cytology.
Administer routine and seasonal vaccinations, including childhood immunisations, travel vaccines, influenza, and COVID-19 programmes.
Provide assessment, monitoring, and management of patients with long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD, hypertension, and diabetes.
Promote health and wellbeing through health education, lifestyle advice, and new patient health assessments.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with practice policies and professional standards.
Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development activities.
Act as the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead, ensuring compliance with current guidance, monitoring standards, delivering staff training, and supporting the implementation of infection control policies and procedures.
Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, mental health needs, and community-based care requirements, ensuring patients receive coordinated and holistic support.

Person Specifications:

Essential Requirements

Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration.
Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Competent IT skills, including experience using clinical systems and maintaining accurate electronic patient records.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication, organisational, and patient-centred care skills.

Desirable

Experience in the management of long-term conditions, including asthma, COPD, hypertension, and diabetes.
Experience or willingness to undertake the role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead.

Experience:

GP surgery: 1 year (preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £18.00-£26.00 per hour
