About the Role

Leeds City College is looking for a Teacher to join our Foundation Studies department.

Foundation Studies is a discrete element of the curriculum offered within Luminate Education Group. The department provides bespoke learning for students who are identified as SEND and High Needs aged 16-25.

We take a student-centred approach to delivery so that students make the best possible progress towards EHCP outcomes, personal targets and the development of English and maths. We provide a welcoming and supportive environment in order to best support learners through their chosen pathways (Work Skills, Life Skills) for their preparation into adulthood.

What You Will Do

Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning, assessment plans and internal verification/moderation.
Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and be responsible for recording student progress
Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational and educational research to develop evidence-based practice
Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students
Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.

About You

Hold a PGCE qualification.
Experience working with SEND students.
Understanding of strategies to support and develop SEND students in line with the Preparation for Adulthood framework.
Strong ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents and carers.
Strong ability to develop rapport and empathy.
Able to work in a team, sharing responsibilities and duties.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
Able to work in a team towards the EHCP outcomes and in line with the RARPA model of delivery.
