Description

Priory is looking to recruit a Gardener to join the team. This role is full-time, working 40 hours per week.

This role is based across five residential homes within the local area of Wakefield and is a fully site-based position with no remote or hybrid working arrangements.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, providing support and services across all five homes as required.

Travel between locations will form a regular part of the role, so flexibility and the ability to manage work across multiple sites are essential.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service and to support the wellbeing of our residents. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

Maintain a safe and habitable environment throughout the unit’s gardens and grounds, in line with quality standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
Carry out a varied range of gardening duties requiring minimum supervision and using own initiative. Including weeding, digging, edging, pruning, seed sowing, plant cultivation, bed preparation and planting
Undertake a variety of general maintenance jobs as required, with particular focus on the exterior of the building and the gardens/grounds.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

Previous experience working within a care, residential, healthcare, housing, or similar environment
Confident working independently while building effective relationships with managers, staff, residents, and other stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to prioritise workload across several locations are important.
Comfortable using IT systems, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous due to the requirement to travel between homes.

Relevant qualifications for the specific role will be considered beneficial, although candidates with suitable experience and transferable skills are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be reliable, professional, adaptable, and committed to delivering a high-quality service across all five homes.
