Job Purpose

The Charitable Organisation Manager will support the Board of Trustees in the day-to-day running of the charity. The role is responsible for coordinating operational activities, supporting service delivery, managing basic administration, assisting with funding applications, and helping ensure the charity meets its legal and regulatory obligations.

The postholder will play a key role in developing the charity from a small volunteer-led organization into a more structured service, supporting growth in activities, funding, and community impact.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Support and Coordination

Manage the day-to-day administration of the charity.
Coordinate activities and support the delivery of charitable services.
Work with trustees and volunteers to organize tasks and schedules.
Maintain basic office systems, records, and filing.

Support to Trustees and Governance

Assist the Board of Trustees with preparing meeting agendas.
Provide updates on ongoing activities and operational issues.
Support the implementation of trustee decisions.
Maintain records required for Charity Commission compliance.

Finance and Budget Support

Assist trustees with basic budgeting and record keeping.
Monitor income and expenditure under trustee supervision.
Maintain simple financial records and support reporting requirements.
Work with trustees to ensure responsible use of funds.

Fundraising and Funding Applications

Research potential small grants and local funding opportunities.
Assist in preparing simple funding applications and supporting documents.
Help maintain relationships with donors and funding bodies.
Support fundraising activities approved by trustees.

Community Engagement

Communicate with service users, volunteers, and community members.
Support outreach activities and awareness of the charity’s work.
Attend community meetings and local events were required.
Help build relationships with local organizations and partners.

Volunteer Coordination

Support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers.
Assist with volunteer onboarding and basic record keeping.
Help ensure volunteers are supported in their roles.
Promote a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers.

Compliance and Administration

Support compliance with Charity Commission requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards.
Assist with safeguarding procedures under trustee guidance.
Keep organizational records up to date.

Essential Requirements

Experience in administration, coordination, or community-based work.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Basic IT skills (email, spreadsheets, document management).
Understanding of or willingness to learn charity operations and governance.
Have a Right To Work in UK

Desirable Requirements

Experience working or volunteering in a charity or community organization.
Experience with small grant applications or fundraising support.
Understanding of safeguarding and data protection principles.
Knowledge of local community services.

Key Working Context

The charity is a small organization governed by a Board of Trustees.
The role is primarily operational and administrative in nature.
The organization is developing its services and funding base.
The postholder will work closely with trustees and volunteers rather than managing a large team.

Pay: £36,000.00-£39,999.00 per year
