Full job description

Synergy Hire Ltd is seeking a motivated and organised Hire Desk Controller to join our busy Letchworth depot.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business within the plant hire industry. Whilst previous hire industry experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong administrative skills and a willingness to learn.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, organisation and excellent customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day on-hire and off-hire process, ensuring accurate and efficient administration of equipment movements.
Process customer enquiries and hire requests in a professional and timely manner.
Liaise with customers, drivers, workshop staff and depot personnel to coordinate hire activities.
Assist the Depot Manager with administrative and operational tasks.
Support Head Office departments with additional administration and reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all hire documentation is completed correctly.
Deliver excellent customer service and build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.

What We're Looking For

A willingness to learn and develop within a busy office environment.
The ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good IT skills, including confidence with data entry and administrative systems.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy.
An interest in the construction, plant hire or related sectors.
A proactive and professional approach to work.
High personal integrity and a strong work ethic.

Desirable

Previous experience within the plant hire, tool hire, construction or transport sectors.
Experience in a customer service or administrative role.
