We are seeking a motivated Engineering Degree Apprentice specialising in Electrical & Electronics to join our innovative team. This paid apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills and gain valuable experience in systems engineering, product development, and electrical design whilst studying for a fully funded degree in Engineering.
This manufacturing site in South Wales is a Centre of Excellence for Engineering Research & Development which includes HW and FW Engineering, Design & Validation testing and Industrialization.
The site in Cardiff employs over 100 Engineers specialising in electronic and electrical engineering, servicing the entire Physical Access Control requirements for the company.
It is important for us to develop our future talent, and this is why we are seeking an exceptional sixth form or college leaver to join us as undergraduate degree apprentice.
About this Job Opportunity
This exciting new development role will be based at our Cardiff manufacturing site and we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our ME Team. The successful applicant will gain a career in engineering whilst also being sponsored to study a degree in Engineering at UWTSD in Swansea (worth £30,000). You will be released to study part-time, day release one day a week. There will be no student loans to pay at the end of your apprenticeship and you will earn a competitive starter career salary from day one.
The degree embedded in this role is: BSc Engineering Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering pathway.

This fixed-term opportunity offers individuals a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the industrial electrical and electronics field, develop essential career skills and work alongside experienced professionals whilst studying for a degree.
Duties and Responsibilities will include the following.
Year 1
Overview of each function based in Cardiff.
Supporting pre-production trials
Equipment preparation and build
Learn key skills to support on the job such as soldering and benchwork – Will include external training to IPC standards.
Learn company processes and systems Life cycle management, Agile and documentation control.
Year 2
Proficient with Electronic and mechanical CAD packages
Start designing and building mechanical fixtures.
Microcontroller development
Year 3
High level programming language C# and LabVIEW.
Programme management.
Support the Industrialization of new products into Contract Manufacturers
Support product introductions at the Contract Manufacturer (Mexico, US, China) accompanied.
LabVIEW and C# additional training provided.
Year 4
Manage a New Product Introduction (NPI) project
Microsoft project and MS suite of tools fully proficient
Industrial based project
Note that the above development plan is a guide and may change year on year, depending on the needs of the business and student capability. This is a training and development position, and other duties and tasks may be assigned as per the needs of the business and the apprenticeship throughout.
Qualifications required.
Education and/or Experience
5 good GCSEs (math and science).
Min 2 A levels in math and science or BTEC Diploma in Engineering.
Language Skills
The ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential
Computer Skills
Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc
Customer Expectations
At the end of the apprenticeship scheme expectation is to satisfy academic goals and skills matrix deliverables.
Work Environment
Work primarily in a workshop / office environment, within a ventilated area, and is exposed to moderate noise levels.
Apprentices will be required to attend day release to a nominated University to support formal education and attend additional courses to supplement core skills.
Work Requirements
Compliance to all relevant Company Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required.
Must be eligible to live and work in the in the UK.

- Target start date of employment is Monday 17th August 2026, subject to satisfactory references & grades being achieved
- Start date for university is September 2026. Attendance will be one day a week for 4 years.
