Part-Time Customer Service Assistant

Location: Kidderminster – Office/Warehouse Based
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 20 hours per week
Typical Working Pattern: Approximately 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

About Us:
Oh Sew Crafty is a busy, family-run craft business based in Kidderminster. We sell a huge range of fabrics, yarn, haberdashery, sewing and craft products through our own website, a number of online marketplaces and directly to customers in our Kidderminster store.

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Part-Time Customer Service Assistant to join our team at our Kidderminster warehouse.

This is primarily an office-based customer service and administration role. However, as a small family business, we work closely as a team and everyone may occasionally be asked to help in other areas of the business when required.

The Role:
You will be responsible for helping us provide a high standard of customer service to both our online and in-store customers, as well as helping with the day-to-day administration of our online business.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Responding to customer emails and messages in a friendly, professional and timely manner.
Dealing with customer enquiries relating to products, orders, deliveries, returns and other general queries.
Responding to messages received through our own website and the different online marketplaces we sell on.
Answering incoming telephone calls and assisting customers with their enquiries.
Assisting customers visiting our Kidderminster store when required.
Helping customers with general product enquiries relating to our ranges of fabric, yarn, haberdashery, sewing and craft products.
Updating existing online product listings.
Creating and listing new products across our website and other selling platforms.
Checking product information for accuracy, including descriptions, prices and other listing details.
Liaising with other members of the team to resolve customer queries and order issues.
Keeping customers informed and ensuring queries are followed through to a satisfactory conclusion.
Carrying out general office and administrative duties as required.
Occasionally helping with the processing, picking or packing of online orders during particularly busy periods or when other team members are absent.
Helping in other areas of the business when reasonably required.

The successful applicant should be:

Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with customers in person, over the telephone and in writing.
Able to provide a welcoming and helpful service to customers visiting our store.
Able to write clear, professional emails with good spelling and grammar.
Comfortable using computers, email and online systems.
Able and willing to learn new websites, marketplaces and software.
Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual and able to manage their own workload.
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable dealing with customer problems and finding sensible solutions.
Willing to learn about our products so they can provide customers with helpful information.
Flexible and willing to help in different areas of the business when necessary.

Previous experience in customer service, retail, office administration, e-commerce or online marketplaces would be an advantage, but we are also interested in applicants with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Experience or an interest in sewing, fabrics, yarn, knitting, crochet, haberdashery or crafts would be beneficial but is not essential.

Hours, Pay & Flexibility:
The position is for a 20-hour-per-week contract, paid at £12.71 per hour.

The normal working pattern is expected to be approximately 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, although the exact working hours and start/finish times will be discussed and agreed at interview.

We are looking for someone who can offer a reasonable degree of flexibility. There may occasionally be opportunities or requests to work additional hours during particularly busy periods, staff holidays or when other members of the team are absent.

Any additional hours would be discussed depending on the needs of the business and the employee's availability.

During busy periods or when other staff members are on holiday or absent, we may ask if you are available to work additional hours. Would you generally be willing to work additional hours when available?
This is a varied role within a small family business. Although primarily customer service and office based, you may occasionally be required to help with in-store customers, picking/packing online orders or other areas of the business. Are you comfortable with this?
