Full job description

How the role will make an impact:

To manage the test house/laboratory day to day and to maintain the UKAS quality management systems.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Promote and maintain compliance with procedural requirements and best practice for health, safety and environmental factors, associated with testing operations. Ensuring suitable provision is made for the identification of hazards and management of risks.
Lead by example, in all areas of the business, prioritising safety and actively engaging with colleagues and team members, seeking opportunities to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
Develop & maintain the necessary systems and competencies within the testing team to manage daily operations, testing scheduling and quote and report generation.
Manage the testing capacity to suitably cater for customer indicative, UKAS accredited, competitor analysis, development and audit test requirements.
Maintain a test quotation and booking service with transparent lead times and manage the provision of testing to agreed service levels.
Maintenance and improvement of test laboratory including test fixtures and documentation.
Liaise with other entities within the Quanex group to provide services for RoW product ranges within the Quanex group.

Key Skills:

Proven experience of supervising and the management of quality systems to UKAS level.
Structured problem-solving techniques, including analysis and corrective and preventative action identification.
Ability to technically appraise Quanex and competitor products.
Continuous improvement mindset and people management skills

Communicates Effectively - Asking questions to gather all the necessary information to resolve the queries correctly.
