Overview

Join our vibrant team as a Tea Room Assistant at the historic Oken tea Rooms and become a vital part of creating a warm, welcoming, and delightful experience for our guests. In this lively role, you'll help open and close the tea rooms, serve delicious teas and speciality coffee, handle food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of hospitality are maintained throughout your shift. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to an inviting atmosphere where guests feel appreciated and cared for. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in catering, food service, and customer engagement within a friendly environment.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout their visit
Prepare and serve a variety of teas, beverages, and light food items with precision and care
Assist in food preparation tasks, ensuring all offerings meet food safety standards
Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and organization of the serving area
Support the setup and cleanup of the tea room, including replenishing supplies and maintaining hygiene protocols
Engage with guests to enhance their experience by offering recommendations and answering questions about menu items
Follow all health and safety regulations related to catering, food handling, and hospitality practices

Requirements

Previous experience in catering or hospitality environments is highly desirable
Knowledge of food safety procedures and standards is essential
Experience in barista roles is preferred but training can be provided.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
Basic food preparation skills with attention to detail
A positive attitude and eagerness to learn about food service operations
