KIKIT – Pathways to Recovery
Community-based (across operational areas)
Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Mon–Fri 9:00am–5:00pm)
Salary: Subject to contract

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and proactive BAME Specialist Outreach Community Connector to join KIKIT. This role is central to expanding access to culturally responsive substance misuse and recovery services within Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

You will act as a vital bridge between communities and services—building trust, increasing awareness, and supporting individuals who may face barriers such as stigma, language, or social exclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Engagement

Deliver outreach in community, faith, and health settings
Engage individuals less likely to access mainstream services
Promote inclusive, culturally responsive support

Partnership Building

Develop strong relationships with:
Community organisations
Faith groups
Housing providers
Voluntary sector partners
Enable cross-referrals and collaborative delivery

Harm Reduction & Awareness

Deliver drug & alcohol awareness sessions and brief interventions
Provide culturally appropriate education and support
Encourage engagement from underserved communities

Naloxone Training & Distribution

Deliver overdose awareness and naloxone training
Distribute naloxone kits where appropriate
Increase access within high-risk communities

Health & GP Engagement

Build links with GP surgeries, pharmacies, and hospitals
Promote referral pathways and social prescribing

Community Visibility

Distribute materials across community locations
Support development of multilingual resources

Monitoring & Reporting

Record outreach activity, engagement, and outcomes
Track performance against targets
Maintain accurate data records

Risk & Safeguarding

Follow safeguarding and lone working procedures
Report risks, incidents, and concerns promptly

Promoting Recovery

Challenge stigma around substance misuse
Promote positive recovery narratives
Support community-based recovery engagement

Person Specification

Essential

Experience in community outreach, health, social care, or voluntary sector
Strong understanding of substance misuse and harm reduction
Knowledge of barriers affecting BAME communities
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload
IT skills and data recording experience
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
Level 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent)

Desirable

Experience working with BAME communities
Additional community language skills
Experience delivering harm reduction or naloxone training
Knowledge of social prescribing pathways
Experience working with faith/community leaders
