Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week on a rotating 24/7 shift, covering 365 days per year.

Birmingham City Council’s Careline Service supports approximately 9,000 citizens across the city to live safely and independently in their own homes through technology-enabled care solutions .

About the Role

We are seeking creative, flexible, and resilient individuals to join our dynamic frontline service as a Careline Operator , working as part of a team delivering a vital 24/7 support function.

This role is office based, you will work across a rolling shift pattern (12 hours 40 minutes) , including nights, weekends, and bank holidays .

You will assist in ensuring the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that supports vulnerable citizens during emergencies and helps prevent escalation of risk.

Key Responsibilities

Provide frontline intervention and prevention in the delivery of a 24/7 Assistive Technology Enabled Care service.
Monitor and respond to mobile or technology‑enabled care equipment for vulnerable or elderly citizens in their own homes.
Maintain accurate records of all calls received and client data using the computer system, including input, interrogation and retrieval of information.
Maintain hard‑copy and manual records systems used for all functions of the operating centre.
Work a rolling rota covering 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, averaging 36.5 hours per week.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience in a technology‑enabled care service or working with older and vulnerable people is beneficial but not essential.
