Full job description

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Whether onsite or officed based all colleagues have a key part to play in delivering this critical transport infrastructure project.

Current Opportunity: Appointed Person Lifting

Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

Key Accountabilities:

Manage BBV appointed lifting personnel and coordinate lifting requirements and lift plans with sub-contractors. Including producing lifting schedules for planned works
Assist in HSE reporting and carrying out lifting incident investigations and sharing lessons learned from the wider BBV project
Liaise with Engineers and Planners to develop RAMS and Task Briefings, so to ensure lifting activities are suitably covered Establish the impact of events to programme delays and to propose any mitigations and solutions
Working with other Lifting Appointed Persons to educate and impart knowledge and lessons learned to the wider BBV and subcontractor lifting workforce
Assess & check lifting competence of BBV & sub-contract lifting personnel and ensure relevant role specific appointments are raised
Generate Lift Plans for self-delivery lifting activities Appraise sub-contractor and visiting lifting plant Lift Plans

Essential Experience/ Qualifications:

- Proactive and collaborative approach
- Developed communication, effectively at all levels
- Team working skills
SMSTS
CSCS
NVQ Level 5 or 6 in Controlling Lifting Operations
CPCS A61 or NPORS
