Emergency Response Specialist

Salary: from £50,000 with market-leading benefits

We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

Help shape how a critical national service prepares for and responds to disruption. As an Emergency Response & Resilience Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring we’re ready to manage incidents, maintain operations and recover quickly - protecting energy supply across Great Britain.

About the role

You’ll take the lead in strengthening our operational resilience and emergency response capability. Working across teams and with external partners, you’ll ensure we’re prepared for a wide range of scenarios and continuously improving how we respond.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and maintaining business continuity frameworks aligned to organisational policy and recognised standards
Ensuring business impact assessments, response plans and continuity documentation are accurate, up to date and fit for purpose
Designing and delivering testing and exercise programmes to validate our resilience plans
Building strong relationships with key resilience partners, including emergency services and government bodies
Embedding best practice in emergency planning and response across the National Control Center (NCC)
Identifying training needs and supporting capability development for colleagues involved in incident response

This is a varied role offering exposure to both strategic planning and real-time operational readiness in a critical infrastructure environment.

About you

You’ll bring a strong mix of resilience expertise, stakeholder management skills and the ability to think strategically while operating in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who has:

Experience in business continuity, resilience or emergency planning within a complex or critical environment
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels internally and externally
Experience developing and maintaining continuity plans and documentation
An understanding of the UK resilience framework and best practice approaches
The ability to operate at both tactical and strategic levels
Excellent communication skills, with confidence working across multidisciplinary teams
Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance
Degree or equivalent experience is required
