Full job description

We are looking for a candidate to join our dedicated reception team at Front Street Surgery. We are offering 20 hours Monday to Friday. The hours of work will be in 5 hour shifts between 8 am and 6.30pm, with occasional Saturday and late night cover. The flexibility to provide cover for sickness and annual leave is essential. The shift pattern to be confirmed at interview/job offer.

Front Street Surgery is one of the top performing GP practices in York. We were recently assessed as Good by CQC, with outstanding grade for patient care. This is something we are very proud of.

Are you proactive, flexible, enthusiastic, and adaptable? We have a strong working relationship between our receptionist team and clinicians, being a good team player is essential.

This role is fast-paced and ever-changing. You will need to be able to multi task, problem-solve and think on your feet. Can you remain calm and positive when working under pressure and challenging circumstances?

You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative duties to support the team and offering excellent service and care to our patients.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Reception Role :

Dealing with incoming and outgoing phone calls.
Helping with queries at the front desk.
Liaising with internal and external healthcare professionals
Managing the task box in an effective manner
Maintaining accurate patient records
Processing documents and prescriptions
Actioning a range of administrative duties, using various online platforms.
Complying with mandatory training requirements , including safeguarding, as set out by employment terms
Taking prompt and timely action when there are any welfare or safeguarding concerns.
Working within organisational policies, procedures and guidance.
Demonstrating the practice's values and behaviours in their work

There may be, on occasion a requirement to carry out other tasks; dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing issues. There may also be the occasion to carry out over time to cover staff holidays and sickness and if there is a Saturday clinic.

Accessibility - Our site is based on 2 floors.

Essential criteria

Experience of working in a Healthcare environment
Previous administrative experience.
A good Standard of Education -Minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including English Language & Maths

Desirable criteria

Medical terminology
Knowledge of SystmOne
