Domestic Abuse Officer

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled and proactive Domestic Abuse Officer to provide high-quality 1 to 1 and group support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse. This is an important community-based role focused on improving safety, wellbeing and independence, while working closely with partners to deliver effective support, prevention and awareness activity.

As Domestic Abuse Officer, working as part of the Community Services team, you will deliver direct support and casework, facilitate group programmes, develop safety plans and contribute to multi-agency responses for people affected by domestic abuse. You will also support prevention work in schools and community settings, lead awareness campaigns and help ensure the service continues to develop and respond to local needs.

If you are confident working with vulnerable individuals, able to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries, and committed to inclusive, empowering support and have experience in the following areas:

Providing 1:1 or group work support to domestic abuse survivors
Risk assessment, safety planning and safeguarding practice.
Trauma-informed, person-centred support.
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel around the district and work occasional evenings or weekends to support outreach and campaigns.

Occupational Requirement: Due to the nature and context of this role, which involves providing direct support to women affected by domestic abuse, there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be female. This requirement is applied in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 and is considered a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

This role will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (known as a DBS check). All offers of employment will be made conditional upon receipt of the satisfactory DBS check.
