Salary: £29,877 (pro rata)
Hours & Contract:
Post 1: 36.25 hours per week, Fixed Term to September 2028
Post 2: 18 hours per week, Maternity Cover to July 2026
Location: Hybrid – The Wish Centre offices and community settings across Blackburn with Darwen

The Wish Centre is looking for a passionate and dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our experienced and compassionate team. This is a vital role supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse across Blackburn with Darwen, helping them to stay safe, rebuild their lives, and access the right support at the right time.

About the Role

As an IDVA, you will provide specialist, person-centred support to victims experiencing domestic abuse, with a focus on those at high and medium risk. You will work within a multi-agency environment to improve safety, reduce risk, and empower individuals to make informed choices.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans to support victims and their families
Provide emotional, practical and advocacy support
Manage a caseload and deliver tailored support plans
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including contributing to MARAC and safeguarding processes
Support victims through criminal and civil court processes
Attend outreach appointments, meetings and community-based work as required
Maintain accurate records and produce reports in line with organisational requirements

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Compassionate, organised and confident working with individuals at risk
Experienced in supporting victims of domestic abuse or with relevant transferable experience
Knowledgeable in risk assessment, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
Skilled in communication, advocacy and multi-agency working
Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion

An IDVA qualification is essential, and lived experience is welcomed (a minimum of 12 months post recovery is required).
