As our Community Pharmacist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Accurately dispensing and supplying NHS and private prescriptions in compliance with GPhC standards and all relevant UK pharmacy legislation Providing clinical advice on medicines, minor ailments, and health promotion to patients and carers in Accrington and the surrounding area Delivering NHS Advanced and Enhanced Pharmacy Services, including Pharmacy First, New Medicine Service (NMS), Medicines Use Reviews (MURs), and Discharge Medicines Reviews (DMRs)
Supervising and supporting pharmacy technicians, dispensing assistants, and counter staff to ensure safe, efficient dispensing operations Maintaining accurate patient medication records and upholding clinical governance standards in line with GPhC and NHS requirements Working collaboratively with GPs, nurses, care homes, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated, patient-centred care Identifying and resolving drug interactions, contraindications, and clinical queries promptly and professionally Promoting public health, healthy living, and long-term condition management within the community pharmacy setting Ensuring full compliance with CQC guidelines, NHS contractual obligations, and controlled drugs legislation Essential Requirements Current, valid GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) registration – this is a mandatory requirement MPharm degree (or equivalent overseas qualification recognised by GPhC) Pre-registration training completed and Pharmacist foundation year or equivalent experience Excellent communication skills – able to communicate clearly with patients of all ages and health literacy levels Highly responsible, reliable, and professional approach to pharmaceutical practice Confidence supervising and leading a dispensary team Strong clinical knowledge of NHS services, medicines optimisation, and current pharmacy practice in the UK Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a busy community pharmacy environment Desirable Skills & Experience Independent prescribing (IP) qualification – desirable but not essential Experience with NHS Pharmacy First, NMS, or Enhanced Services delivery Familiarity with community pharmacy dispensing software (e.g. Cegedim, EMIS, PharmOutcomes) Experience working in a community pharmacy setting in the UK Understanding of Medicines Use Reviews and patient consultation techniques What We Offer Competitive salary reflecting your experience and GPhC registration Supportive, welcoming team environment in an established community pharmacy Genuine opportunity to deliver meaningful, patient-focused pharmaceutical care in Accrington Flexible working arrangements considered – full-time or part-time hours A varied clinical role covering the full range of community pharmacy and NHS services Opportunity to make a lasting difference to the health of the local East Lancashire community How to Apply To apply for this Community Pharmacist position at Wyvern Pharmacy Accrington, please click the Apply button on Indeed and attach your current CV.
