About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Gateman for our Mottram Moor Link Road and A57 Link Road highways improvement scheme.
Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.
As a Gateman, you will be tasked to manage and control access and egress into the construction site; maintaining the yard and the stores and waste area, arranging for the skips to be exchanged, checking and maintaining safety signs and ordering PPE.
What you'll be doing
- Sign in / out and record all construction site deliveries
- Distribute / advise deliveries to required supervisors
- Ensure the construction site is kept locked and secure throughout the shift
- Present a positive image of the company to all visitors and offer assistance at all times
- Marshalling traffic and vehicles
- General tidying and housekeeping and maintain signage
- May have to assist with the work on site as and when required
- Ensure all workers and visitors sign in and out of the site using M Site
- Liaise with site staff to plan ahead for the day’s delivery and despatch schedule
- Open gate and Lock up the gate at the end of the day
- Checking all deliveries comply to site rules, if not vehicles must be turned away
Who we're looking for
- A good communicator with professionals across all levels of the site
- Candidate must be alert at all times with excellent level of awareness
- Excellent attention to detail when logging the entrance/exit activities
- Flexible, especially if the project is located away from home
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
