Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join our engineering finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial management activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic organisation, contributing to financial planning and analysis, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and financial performance. The position is suitable for individuals with a strong background in accounting and financial management systems.

Duties

Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate purchase ledger and payments
Manage accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate sales ledger and receipts using Sage 1000
Manage general ledger processes
Utilise Sage accounting software to maintain precise financial records.
Preparing staff payroll using Sage 50 payroll software
Submitting pension data and dealing with HMRC
Adminstering death in service scheme
Administering company insurances
Maintain bank account cashbook, credit card records and petty cashbook including timely and accurate reconciliations
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial strategies.
Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices in financial management
Prepare and submit digitally quarterly VAT returns
Administering import and export procedures for goods

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role within the financial services sector
Proficiency in Sage accounting software essential
Strong understanding of financial management principles
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
Experience in mentoring team members and fostering professional development.
Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes and overall financial operations
Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA are desirable but not essential.
Organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines. This position offers an engaging environment for professionals eager to advance their careers in finance while contributing significantly to organisational success through expert financial management.
