Full job description

Sunday Shop Supervisor

Job Purpose

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Sunday Shop Supervisor to run the shop each Sunday.

You will supervise two staff members and ensure the shop is fully stocked, well presented, and operating smoothly. The role includes managing ovens, heating and cooking prepared bakery items, preparing sandwiches, handling chicken preparation, and completing all end-of-day preparation for Monday.

This is a practical, working role where you will lead the team by example and remain actively involved throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision

* Supervise and support two staff members

* Allocate tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently

* Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation

* Assist with all shop duties as required

Food Production (Ovens & Hot Food)

* Manage ovens throughout the day

* Heat and cook prepared bakery items (pasties, sausage rolls, pies, etc.)

* Cook bacon and sausages as required

* Ensure all food is correctly cooked, presented, and stored

Chicken Preparation

* Pick and prepare chickens for sale

* Maintain clean and hygienic preparation areas

* Complete chicken preparation for the following day

Preparation

* Keep displays stocked and well presented

* Complete sandwich preparation for the next day

* Monitor stock levels and report shortages

Stock & Shop Presentation

* Keep all displays, counters, and fridges fully stocked

* Rotate stock and monitor freshness and dates

* Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-presented shop at all times

Monday Preparation

* Prepare sandwich fillings and other items for Monday

* Ensure all ingredients and stock are ready for the next day

* Clean and organise preparation areas, equipment, and fridges

* Leave the shop fully prepared for Monday trade

Food Safety & Hygiene

* Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures

* Maintain high personal hygiene standards

* Ensure safe food handling and storage at all times

* Keep all work areas clean and hygienic

* Report any issues to management immediately

Customer Service

* Provide friendly and efficient service

* Handle customer queries professionally

* Ensure products are well presented and of high quality

Person Specification

* Experience in a supervisory or senior shop/food role preferred

* Good understanding of food hygiene standards

* Strong organisational and time management skills

* Ability to lead and support a small team

* Reliable, responsible, and hands-on approach

* Able to work independently and use initiative

* High attention to detail and standards

Hours

Sundays 7am - 2.30pm

Summary

This role is responsible for running the Sunday operation, supervising staff, managing food preparation, and ensuring the shop is fully prepared for the following day.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
