GP Receptionist Vacancy

Location: Lavant Road Surgery, Chichester PO19 5RH
Salary: Starting at £12.71 per hour
Hours: 20 hours – Monday – Friday to be worked as part of a rota between 07:45 and 18:30
Contract Type: Permanent
Pension: NHS Pension Scheme

Our friendly team includes GPs, advanced practitioners, nurses, and a robust administrative support team. The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and friendly individual to join our front-of-house team as a GP Receptionist. This is a multi-skilled role where you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a crucial role in their healthcare journey.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Greeting Patients: Provide a professional and friendly welcome to patients and visitors at the reception desk.
Managing Enquiries: Efficiently handle patient enquiries both face-to-face and over the telephone, directing them to the appropriate service or clinician.
Appointments: Book new and follow-up appointments, manage appointment systems, and assist with clinical triage processes.
Administration: Manage general administrative duties, including processing patient queries, actioning GP tasks and updating patient records.
Communication: Act as a communication hub between patients, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
Confidentiality: Work in a way that recognises the importance of patient rights and confidentiality, adhering to practice policies and data protection legislation.

About You

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment and remain calm and professional under pressure.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and professional attitude.
Strong IT literacy and confidence in using computer systems.
Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as part of a team.
A good standard of literacy and numeracy.

Desirable (but not essential):

Previous experience in a healthcare, medical receptionist, or customer service role.
Knowledge of a clinical system such as SystmOne or EMIS Web.
