The Role: Sales Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Casual Sales Assistant to join our Sports Direct store in Bournemouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail environment, delivering outstanding customer service whilst supporting our team in providing a first-class shopping experience. As a Casual Sales Assistant, you will be at the heart of our store operations, assisting customers, processing transactions, and maintaining our store to the highest standards.

Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service, assisting customers with product selection and answering queries about our sports and leisure range - Process customer transactions accurately at till points, handling cash and card payments with precision - Stock shelves and maintain visual merchandising displays to ensure the store is well-organised and appealing
Receive and process incoming stock deliveries, checking items for accuracy and damage - Maintain store cleanliness and organisation, including tidying fitting rooms and sales floors - Support team members during peak trading periods to ensure smooth store operations - Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines - Contribute to a positive team environment through collaboration and mutual support

Qualifications

Proven customer service experience in a retail or similar environment - Strong communication and people skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers - Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to working casual shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays - Ability to handle cash and operate till systems accurately - Basic numeracy skills and attention to detail
Teamwork and collaborative approach to supporting colleagues - Desirable knowledge of sports, fitness, or outdoor products - Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy trading periods - Problem-solving mindset and willingness to take initiative - Enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service and contributing to store success
