INTRODUCTION
Community Foods Limited is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of dried fruit, nuts and seeds to the UK food industry, with customers in both the manufacturing and the retail sectors.
Our site at Witham, Essex is a fully allergen-controlled site, with multiple capabilities to pack products for large supermarkets and process dried fruits nuts and seeds in bulk for bakeries and manufacturers. We also own several brands, including the UK’s largest organic dried fruit and nut brand, Crazy Jack.
JOB PURPOSE
The overall responsibility of the Logistics Manager is to oversee and coordinate all logistics activities across the business, ensuring the efficient flow of goods from order receipt through to final delivery. This includes managing customer orders, maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing transport and warehousing operations, and ensuring that all logistics processes are executed effectively across multiple sites.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties will include:
· Operational oversight - To manage and continuously improve the end‑to‑end logistics process, ensuring best practices are followed with a focus on cost efficiency, service quality and operational performance.
· Issue resolution - Act as the first point of escalation for all logistics related issues, ensuring timely and effective problem solving across transport, warehousing and inventory movements.
· Live operations monitoring
- Monitor live logistics activities, warehouse throughput and inbound/outbound flows.
- Identify delays or risks early and proactively communicate with relevant teams and customers.
· Coordination of goods movements
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics movements, including stock transfers between sites, customer deliveries and collections from suppliers or third party logistics partners.
- Manage relationships with hauliers, 3PLs and other logistics service providers.
· Inter‑site transfers
- Receive and validate transfer requests from production planning or supply chain teams.
- Confirm slot availability, schedule movements, and ensure accurate communication with warehouse teams.
- Arrange appropriate transport and ensure timely execution.
· Logistics planning and scheduling
- Maintain and update the central logistics planner, ensuring all activities are accurately recorded and aligned with operational priorities.
· Cross‑functional collaboration
- Work closely with production, supply chain, customer service and warehouse teams to ensure seamless coordination of logistics activities.
· Any other tasks as deemed reasonable by your line manager and the business

REQUIREMENTS
Education and qualifications
· Educated to A-Level or degree standard
· 3-5 Years experience within a Logistics Operation
Skills and abilities
· Team player with a flexible approach to a variety of duties.
· Good telephone manner and analytical skills.
· Ability to deal efficiently with suppliers and customers as well as colleagues on a daily basis.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications.
· Knowledge of SAP
· Attention to detail.
· Proactive i.e. ability to think and plan ahead.
· Determination and drive.
Good Working Knowledge / Experience of
· Outlook/Excel/Word.
· Good working knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.
