Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and mechanical processes. As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for operating laser cutting machines and ensuring high-quality production standards while adhering to safety protocols. Laser operators are responsible for the day to day running of 2 machines, both programming and unloading.
This role requires a rotating shift pattern. Please do not apply if you are unable to work the following rotating shift patterns. The shift pattern is, week 1: Monday to Thursday 06:00-14:30 and Friday 06:00-12:00 and week 2: Monday to Thursday 14:30-23:00 and Friday 12:00-18:00.
Responsibilities
- Operating 2 flat bed lasers in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with team members to improve production processes and efficiency.
- Operates in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operations to the Press and machine shop team leader/Manager.
- Maintains and produces a level of output that will minimise production delays
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
- Communicates effectively with other workers in the process workflow
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Bystronic, Amada or Trumpf flat bed lasers.
- Knowledge of beam centering, lens cleaning and fault-finding diagnosis.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance on the machines.
- Ability to operate hand-held tools, sanders and slat cleaners.
- Experience in the using overhead cranes
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Experience using hand tools and machinery effectively and safely.
- Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to production tasks.
Experience and Qualifications
- It is essential that you have previous experience of running 3 axis flatbed lasers.
- Apprenticeship trained in a relevant field or time served.
- An understanding of SOPs and TPM check sheets.
- Good time management.
- Experience of working in a production led environment.
- Someone who is reliable and will work as part of a team.
