Overview

Do you have a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs?

Are you experienced in supporting children and looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine impact on a young persons life every day?

This is a part-time role with an excellent opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

1:1 Role on a Tue, Wed, Thu 8.00-3.30pm.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Send Support worker to provide personalised assistance to a child with special educational needs. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference supporting their development and fostering a positive learning environment. The role involves working closely with a child who require an individualised curriculum, ensuring their safety, engagement, and progress within our Pre school setting.

Duties

Provide one-to-one support to a child with diverse needs.
Assist them with daily activities such as communication, social interaction, and behavioural management.
Support them during daily activities, playtime, and specialised programmes.
Implement individualised support plans under the guidance of the setting SEND.
Foster a nurturing environment that encourages learning, independence, and confidence
Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and families to ensure consistent care and support
Create IEP'S tailored to the child's individual needs.

Requirements

Experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities is highly desirable
Knowledge of special education principles and techniques for working with children with special needs.
Knowledge of a total communication approach and strategies.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children and team members
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's development
Ability to work patiently and adapt to the unique needs of each child
Flexibility to work as part of a team in dynamic environments focused on child development

About the Role

Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs
Providing individualised support to help children access learning
Working closely with parents the setting SENCOs and other outside agencies to deliver tailored interventions and support.
Supporting communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
Helping create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning
Personal care if required to support the pupil's needs
Experience with SEND is essential
Relevant childcare qualification advantageous.
Setting experience
Patient, nurturing and able to adapt to individual needs
An understanding of EHCP strategies, such as visual supports or sensory regulation
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential
Happy to support pupils with personal care

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in:

Nursery / Pre school settings
Mainstream schools supporting SEND pupils
