Greenergy is a major UK fuel supplier and a leading European manufacturer of waste-based renewables. To deliver fuel to our customers, we have a 24/7 in-house haulage operation made up of over 650 drivers and a fleet of over 250 tankers. Greenergy Flexigrid operates out of over 20 depots nationwide, making over 182,000 deliveries to 3,100 customers each year.
We're looking for a commercially minded and hands-on finance leader to head up the finance function for our Flexigrid business, providing both strategic support and practical financial leadership within a busy logistics environment. Reporting to the UK Financial Controller and partnering closely with Flexigrid's CEO, you'll provide clear financial leadership, commercial insight and robust financial control.
This is a broad, hands-on role overseeing the end-to-end finance function and leading a small team of three. You'll be equally comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, managing financial planning and reporting, and rolling up your sleeves to understand the detail behind the numbers. Experience within logistics, transport or a similarly complex operational environment will be highly advantageous.
This role can be based from either our Manchester or Tamworth office. To support effective partnership with both the operational and finance teams, you'll be expected to spend a minimum of two days each week in Manchester and two days each week in Tamworth. Own the end-to-end finance function, including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial controls
- Lead monthly and annual close processes; ensure accurate and timely management reporting
- Manage and develop the finance team of 3
- Partner directly with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on strategic decision-making, financial planning, and business performance insights
- Comply with Group’s internal controls, policies, and risk management frameworks
- Support commercial decision-making through scenario modelling, and business cases appraisals
- Supporting the management external relationships with auditors, banks and finance brokers, leading at ‘local’ level
- Drive continuous improvement in finance systems and processes.

Professionally qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience
- Proven experience leading a finance function end to end, ideally in logistics industry with operational complexity
- Experience managing and developing finance teams, with the ability to lead, coach, and set clear priorities
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working directly with C-Suite
- Experience working in fast-paced, multi-entity, or international business environments is advantageous
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Commercially minded, with strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate financial data into clear business insight
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- Confident communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders and present clearly to the C-Suite and wider leadership team
- Comfortable operating both strategically and at detail level
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability, particularly in fast-moving operational environments
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and through change
