Activities Assistant

About Lincolnshire House

Lincolnshire House is a registered charity based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, providing residential, day and respite care services for adults with Cerebral Palsy and Similar Disabilities.

We provide high quality residential accommodation for 35 residents with day and two respite care facilities for people who have some form of Cerebral Palsy. Our aim is to provide as full and varied a life as possible for people in our care.

We are recognised as a quality provider of residential care for adults with Cerebral Palsy and similar disabilities.

Role Purpose

To work alongside the Wellbeing Co-ordinator and care team to develop and deliver an engaging programme of meaningful, person-centred activities that enrich the lives of service users, promote independence, wellbeing and social inclusion, and enable every individual to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.

To provide stimulating group and individual activities that reflect the needs, wishes, interests and aspirations of service users.

To encourage service users to make choices, participate in activities and maintain independence through meaningful occupation.

To create and maintain positive professional relationships with service users, their family and friends, colleagues, volunteers and external organisations.

To actively support colleagues across Lincolnshire House.

To adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and Lincolnshire House policies, procedures and guidelines.

To actively promote Lincolnshire House and maintain a positive, personal and professional profile.

To ensure high standards of cleanliness, health and safety and infection prevention and control during activities.

Activity Planning & Delivery

Work with the Wellbeing Co-ordinator and wider team to develop and deliver a varied programme of activities.

Consult with service users to ensure activities reflect their needs, wishes and preferences.

Plan, organise and independently lead group and one-to-one activities.

Adapt activities to meet physical abilities and communication needs.

Support service users to develop new skills, maintain existing abilities and achieve personal goals.

Promote participation, choice, independence and inclusion.

Community Activities & Events

Organise and support community outings, visits and recreational trips.

Support themed events, celebrations and fundraising activities.

Encourage service users to maintain and develop community links.

Resources & Equipment

Prepare activity areas and arrange resources and equipment.

Maintain activity materials and report defects.

Assist in identifying new resources and ideas.

Recording & Reporting

Maintain accurate activity records and participation records.

Complete risk assessments for activities and outings.

Report concerns regarding wellbeing promptly.

Maintain confidentiality and report safeguarding concerns.

Quality Improvement & Service User Engagement

Review the effectiveness of activities with the Wellbeing Co-ordinator.

Seek feedback from service users, family and friends and colleagues.

Monitor participation and remove barriers to engagement.

Encourage service users to shape the programme of activities.

Keep up to date with good practice.

General

Work across a seven-day rota including weekends and bank holidays.

Attend training, supervision and meetings.

Observe health and safety requirements.

Support fundraising and undertake other duties appropriate to the role.

Person Specification

Essential

Positive outlook, enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to motivate and engage service users.

Commitment to person-centred care.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Willingness to work across a seven-day rota.

Desirable

Experience in a care, wellbeing or activities role.

Experience planning and delivering activities.

Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care.

Understanding of Cerebral Palsy and similar disabilities.

Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).

Pay: £13.02-£13.65 per hour
