Full job description

Our Horsham flagship store offers the UK's largest indoor camping display area and for the best customer retail experience we need a highly motivated team to deliver excellent customer service.

We are looking for a number of confident retail-experienced team members to join our busy team with responsibility for meeting and greeting customers, and advising on products to suit their requirements, including full time and part time roles. You will also get involved in standards, display merchandising and upkeep to keep the displays looking their best. The role involves working both inside and outside in our covered display area. You will come to know everything there is to know about tents and awnings but you need to come with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn - we are really keen to recognise great ideas and some of our best features and practices have all been employee-led.

We are a seasonal business and there'll be the flexibility to work more hours paid overtime during peak season when required, or to bank extra holiday time in lieu.

Our peak season is March to August/September when we can be very busy. You will be required to work weekends.

We are keen to recruit to these positions as soon as possible. We are looking for a minimum of one full time and 1 part-time permanent team members, and an additional seasonal part time team member (weekends).

You will have:

The best thing you can bring with you is a can-do attitude, confidence in yourself and a desire to learn, although experience in outdoor or other retail is preferred. We do need you to have worked in a retail environment before, and experience in a complex multi-category retail environment like a garden centre, big bike centre or big DIY store may give you good transferable skills. We can teach you everything else.

Retail experience (1 year required, 2 years+ preferred). Experience in outdoor, another camping shop or a big out-of-town multi-category retail setting would be a definite plus

Sales experience (desirable). This can be varied, and what we are looking for is confidence talking to people and attention to detail. We don't pressure sell. Instead our sales people should become experts in the products so we can meet our customer's unique needs. Good sales people ask the right questions and listen to the customers needs, hopefully matching them with the perfect equipment for them based on knowing the features of what we sell. Our customers value that advice and that's why they keep coming back.

Excellent communication and confident to approach and talk to customers, and make calls to customers

Attention to detail and enthusiasm for retail standards is a must. This is critical and attitude here is key - see it, sort it and keep everything looking its best. It can be repetitive as customers will undo all your hard work rolling tent doors and windows, but it's a critical job.

Excellent attitude to problem solving

Team player

Flexible attitude towards working extra paid overtime hours would be welcomed, along with a team-player attitude when it comes to flexing if you can (such as a last-minute shift cover for a colleagues illness)
