Compass Eko Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust formed on 1 April 2026 through the merger of The Compass Partnership of Schools (established 2017) and Eko Trust (established 2016).

Overall Job purpose:

Working under guidance, provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Support for the Pupils

Provide pastoral support to pupils
Receive and supervise pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable
Attend to pupils' personal needs and provide advice to assist their social, health and hygiene development
Participate in comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help
Assist the teacher with the development and implementation of Individual Education / Behaviour / Support / Mentoring plans
Support provision for pupils with special needs
Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model
Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils

What You Bring

We are seeking a candidate who balances professional skill with genuine heart. The ideal applicant will have:

Experience: Proven experience working with children of a relevant age, specifically those with significant needs and social/communication difficulties.
Qualifications: Completion Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant
Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of the national curriculum, child development, and basic learning strategies (e.g., literacy and numeracy).
Adaptability: The ability to work constructively within a team while self-evaluating your own learning needs.
Essential Skills: Good numeracy/literacy skills and the ability to use ICT and other classroom technology effectively to support learning.
