Join Our Outstanding Early Years Team

Position: Lead Early Years Practitioner for Preschool room (3 -4 year olds)

Location: Coombe Dingle, Westbury Lane, Bristol BS9

Job Type: Full-time (typically 40 hours per week)

Salary: £14.33 - £14.74 per hour (depending on qualifications & experience)

About the Role

This is a development role working as part of the Management Team of the relevant areas of work with the responsibility for the overall day to day running of the area, role modelling excellent practice and delegation of tasks.

To act as a mentor to new starters offering any support and guidance as required, contribute to observations on staff practice.

To develop a focus in practice /management and be dedicated champions.

To work as a key member of the early year’s team delivering high quality, safe care and learning opportunities for all children based on their needs and interests. To meet the obligations of a key person to children, evidencing child development progress and to effectively communicate this to parents or carers. Build close relationships with the parents and carers of key children.

To effectively deliver the EYFS and provide evidence you are meeting your commitment to it and Ofsted and follow accurately Red Bus policies and procedures.

To commit to the security, safeguarding and protection of children and an ongoing culture of vigilance, clearly understanding appropriate action to take in the event of a potential safeguarding or child protection issue.

To go about your work in a happy and positive way ensuring every child receives a positive and warm reception that makes each child feel special.

To support other team members and the nursery as a whole as required, communicating effectively and highlighting anything that could be improved for children or the team.

Childcare & Education

· To ensure that all children are treated as individuals and are supported through the Red Bus approach to planning in line with the EYFS.

· To follow the standards, guidance and requirements as set out in the EYFS and Ofsted.

· Ensure that settling-in and transitions are well managed for all children, ensuring they are communicated to parents, carers and colleagues.

· To ensure effective communication with staff and families through participation in staff meetings, parent’s evenings and any further events held by the nursery.

· To listen to any parent/carer issues or concerns, resolving where possible, escalating where required in a timely manner to your Manager.

· Ensuring that children are adequately supervised at all times, supporting staff to be deployed and distributed to cover all areas.

· Participate in the Key Person’s system and be responsible for a group of children including monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on their development and progress using I connect.

· To work in partnership with other professionals (Family Support, Speech Therapists and SENCO etc.) to support the child’s learning and next steps.

· Promote equality and diversity within the nursery, challenging any behaviour which does not support our Inclusive Practice and Equal Opportunities Policy.

· Ensure safeguarding and child protection are a priority at all times for children.

· Report policy, safeguarding and child protection breaches immediately.

Red Bus Environment

· To clearly understand and comply with Red Bus Health & Safety & Security Policies and Procedures.

· Raise any maintenance or safety concerns to the Manager of the room, escalating to Early Years Manager in due course if not attended to.

· Seek to ensure the environment is child-led, using both indoor and outdoor spaces effectively.

· To promote good hygiene practices in the nursery and maintain high standards of cleanliness.

To ensure that healthy and nutritious meals provided are catering safely for individual’s dietary needs taking into account allergies and allergens to a high standard.

· To treat all areas of the nursery with respect and seek to maintain a great working environment.

Sustainability

· To support business decisions made by the Early Years Management Team to ensure sustainability is maintained.

· To work in partnership with the Early Years Management Team to ensure that the nursery is effectively marketed and that you act as an advocate for the setting.

· To offer excellent levels of customer service to all.

General
