Are you curious about how automation can transform everyday processes—and want to play a key role in keeping it running smoothly?

We’re looking for a Process Assistant to join our small, collaborative Automation Support team. Acting as a central support function, the team ensures that digital workers (bots) continue to operate effectively across Police and Resourcing processes. It’s a supportive, fast-paced environment where communication, learning and teamwork are highly valued, and where you’ll gain hands-on exposure to automation technology and continuous improvement practices.

Training and development—including automation accreditation—will be provided to help you grow your knowledge and capabilities.

This role is a security-cleared position and will require successful candidates to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) and Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 (NPPV2) clearance. As part of this process, you’ll undergo background checks relating to your identity, employment history and criminal record. Due to the nature of the work supporting Police services, maintaining these clearances is essential, and you must be willing and eligible to go through the vetting process as a condition of employment.

This is a hybrid role based in Newport, working Monday to Friday within a shift pattern of either 8am–4pm or 10am–6pm. You’ll spend your time both in the office and working remotely, supporting business-critical automated processes and helping keep operations running seamlessly.

What you will be doing:

Monitoring automated processes, including overnight runs and system performance checks.
Managing a shared mailbox, responding to queries and logging incidents for internal stakeholders.
Triaging and tracking incidents, working closely with automation developers to resolve issues.
Maintaining accurate records, updating documentation, and supporting audit requirements.
Scheduling processes, managing workloads, and ensuring deadlines and service levels are met.
Identifying and suggesting opportunities for process improvement.

What you’ll bring:

Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain issues and updates.
Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment.
Confidence working in a support-based role and engaging with internal stakeholders.
A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure when issues arise.
Basic understanding of technical concepts such as user access or systems support.

It would be great if you had:

An interest in automation technologies or experience with tools like UiPath.
Previous experience in an IT support, service desk, or incident management environment.
