Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundsperson/Gardener to join our team. This role involves maintaining and enhancing outdoor landscapes, ensuring the health and aesthetic appeal of gardens, lawns, and other green spaces. The successful candidate will have a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with the ability to operate various tools and machinery. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with construction experience, gardening skills, or mechanical knowledge to contribute to high-quality grounds management.
Duties
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to promote healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Operate power tools such as hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, blowers, and other gardening equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for planting, weeding, edging, and general garden upkeep.
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across landscaped areas.
- Assist with construction-related tasks such as installing features or preparing ground for new plantings using excavators or other machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the installation and repair of garden features or structures as required.
- Monitor plant health and identify issues related to pests or disease, recommending appropriate treatments.
- Follow health and safety guidelines during all activities to prevent accidents or injuries.
Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge related to operating machinery.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in gardening and construction work.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices including planting, pruning, fertilising, and pest control.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
- Physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy loads (up to 40kg) and perform manual labour over extended periods.
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure quality workmanship across all tasks.

Pay: From £26,000.00 per year
