About the role:
We are currently seeking a motivated, analytical and collaborative individual to join our team as a Commissioning Officer within the Social Services, Health & Housing Directorate.
The Common Commissioning Unit plays a pivotal role in shaping, developing and delivering high-quality services for adults, children and young people, and vulnerable people across Neath Port Talbot. We are responsible for designing and commissioning a diverse range of services across social care and housing support, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability and outcomes. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of complex service models across both adult and children’s provision, and to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
As a Commissioning Officer, you will take a lead role in the development, commissioning and ongoing review of services across adults and children’s provision, ensuring that services are responsive to identified need, deliver measurable outcomes and are fully aligned with legislative requirements and Welsh Government priorities. You will work in partnership with providers, internal services and regional colleagues to drive service transformation, support market development and deliver continuous improvement across adult social care, children and young people’s services, and housing-related support
Your daily routine will include:
- Leading commissioning projects to develop new and redesigned adult and housing support services
- Managing contracts and working with providers to ensure quality, performance and value for money
- Analysing demand and supply data to inform service design and strategic planning
- Developing specifications, procurement documentation and commissioning strategies
- Engaging with stakeholders, including people who use services, to shape provision
- Monitoring and reviewing service performance and implementing improvements
About you:
Do you have:
- Strong experience in commissioning, contracting or procurement, including developing new service models
- Experience of specifying, implementing, monitoring and reviewing commissioned services against quality standards
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and building effective partnerships
- Knowledge of current legislation, guidance and policy relating to adult social care or housing support services
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and inform decision making
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
