Contract Type: Part time, permanent. 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Scope and responsibilities:

At South Devon College, we are passionate about helping every learner realise their potential and achieve success. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Academic Coach / Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated South Devon High School team. This varied and rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to young people's academic achievement, personal development and wellbeing through a combination of classroom supervision, academic coaching and pastoral support. Whether you are considering a future career in teaching or looking to build your experience within education, this is an excellent opportunity to take your first steps into the classroom with full training and ongoing professional development provided. Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and families, you will help create a positive learning environment where every student is encouraged, challenged and supported to thrive.

We are looking for a positive and motivated individual with GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) and experience of working with children or young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring or similar setting. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, the confidence to supervise learners and manage behaviour effectively, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues. A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion is essential, along with a genuine passion for supporting learner achievement and wellbeing. The successful candidate will be flexible, resilient and willing to undertake cover supervision, exam invigilation, ongoing professional development and Enhanced DBS clearance.
